A Lunar Rug Pull?

Will plans for a moon base be scrapped by Trump? What about Mars?

3 min readFeb 19, 2025

Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, humans decided that Earth was a bit too cramped and started eyeing the Moon, Mars, and beyond for a change of scenery. We’ve been to the Moon, but like that one relative you visit once a decade, we’re considering going back — or we were, anyway.

Rug Pull On the Moon Mission?

NASA is (was?) plotting a return to the Moon, because apparently, we left some cool rocks behind. Called the Artemis program, NASA had planned to team up with international pals and private space cowboys like Elon Musk (SpaceX), aiming for a lunar party — possibly even launching this year.

But WAIT! Enter President Trump, who might just pull the rug on this moon dance to save a few bucks. Nothing says “I’m cutting costs” like canceling a space mission.

Maybe there’s something more pressing than going to the moon — like having the ability to shoot down thousands of ICBMs when we piss off China and Russia?

Hmmm. Money for Occupy the Moon or more tax cuts? Easy call. Apparently, the moon is “overrated.”
